Most of the dust that coats your furniture and floors comes from outdoors and can pose a health threat, a new study suggests.

Measurable levels of the chemical additive bisphenol A (BPA) were found in a variety of canned goods, including some that claimed to be BPA-free, according to an analysis released this week by the nonprofit advocacy group Consumers Union.

DSC00179As a new mom, I was dreading putting my infant son in daycare.  Meeting Odie was a dream; she put me at ease immediately, and checked in with me frequently to let me know how my baby was doing.  Now my "baby" is two and a half and he and his new baby sister are at Odie's - and  they both love her! I also credit Odie with keeping me sane; when you have kids, there's always something to worry about!  She's soothed me when I've had worries about the kids and is often one step ahead of me when I learn about something new and scary (plastics in the microwave!  BPA!).  She keeps up with the news and makes the kids' safety the biggest priority.

1208Our daughter, Eris, was so fortunate to have had Odie around her for her first few years.  Odie and her wonderful family have been warm, loving, supportive, and rational.  They are now all friends - part of our family, really.  Although she is older now, Eris still visits Odie's daycare for special occasions, something she always loves.  I know that Odie will still be part of Eris' life when she is a grown woman, cheering Eris on in whatever she does.

0201071217Our sons have been blessed to have Odie and her family in their lives on a daily basis for the past four years. Our boys are as much a part of her family as her own children. They love going to her home everyday. She provides them with a loving, supportive, and learning environment. Many of the skills that they have developed are a direct result of the positive role that she plays in their lives. She and her family have always been there for us during trying times. When our youngest son was ill and had to be rushed to the hospital, Odie took in our oldest son and watched him all night so that both of us could be at the hospital. It gives us great comfort to know that our boys are with Odie when we go off to work.
